Antoine Griezmann Confirms Atletico Stay

His future at the new Wanda Metropolitano had been in doubt amidst strong interest from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona thus prompting the 27-year-old to say that he would like to clarify his future before France’s World Cup Group C opener against Australia on Saturday.

“I have decided to stay.” Griezmann said at the end of the Spanish programme.

Griezmann, who has a contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022, then tweeted “my fans, my team, my home.”

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have been at loggerheads over Griezmann in the last six months with the former reporting the latter to world’s football governing body, FIFA, over the illegal approach made for him.

Antoine Griezmann joined the club from Real Sociedad in 2014 and has gone on to become a key player for the Rojiblancos after netting 112 goals in his four years at the club.
