Anaemena Says 2020/21 NPFL Season ‘One Of The Best So Far’ (AUDIO)

Rivers United defender Ifeanyi Anaemena has described the current Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season as ‘fantastic’, ‘competitive,’ and ‘one of the best seasons so far’.

With six matchdays left in the campaign, Akwa United lead the standings with 60 points from 32 matches, but Anaemena’s Rivers United, Nasarawa United, Kwara United, Enyimba and Kano Pillars have all led the standings at different points during the course of this season.

As a matter of fact, the Pride of Rivers, who are 3rd on the log with 55 points can close the gap on leaders Akwa United to just 2 points, with victory over the Promise Keepers, when both sides clash on Sunday in Port Harcourt in a Match Day 33 clash.

Speaking exclusively to www.busybuddiesng.com, the Super Eagles defender also hailed the League Management Company (LMC) for improved officiating in the NPFL this season, which has contributed to teams picking points easily on the road.

“I think this season’s campaign in the NPFL has been fantastic.” the former Enyimba centre-back stated. “And there has been ups and downs.

“And I think every team is trying to make sure they compete positively, to make sure they make a point in this 2020/2021 season.

“For me, I think the LMC have done a great job in the aspect of officiating of league matches. And you can see teams going away to pick points and come back home. It’s difficult for you to see that a team doesn’t get an away win or away draw in every week.

“The league has been competitive, and the likes of Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Kwara United, Akwa United, Nasarawa United and Rivers United have all been on the top of the table to compete, to make sure that they contend for the league title.

“So, I think everybody wants to win the league. So. It’s so competitive, and I think it is one of the best seasons so far.”
