Amuneke Urges Eagles Coach Rohr To Inject Creative Players Into Team Ahead Of AFCON Qualifiers

Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has called on head coach Gernot Rohr to introduce creative players into the team ahead of the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will resume their qualifying campaign against Seychelles in September as they attempt to bounce back from the disappointing 2-0 loss to South Africa on Matchday 1.

Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach Amuneke is of the opinion that the team will improve with the addition of creative players.

He was speaking about the team’s Russia 2018 World Cup campaign in a chat with CSN as he was quoted as follows: “It was a good try. We were close, yet still far off.”

“We have seen some lapses and must correct them and inject fresh ideas to compete well against other teams that set up their team to nullify our threats.

“There were lots of positives from the tournament on the part of the Super Eagles which they must build on just like the creative aspect and the attack.” He concluded.

Nigeria currently occupy third spot on the Group E league table behind South Africa and Libya after one set of group games.

The top two from the group will automatically qualify for the 2019 AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
