Alvaro Morata Reveals; Why I Refused To Join Manchester United

Alvaro Morata has finally revealed why he refused to join Manchester United.

He disclosed that he still exchange texts, jokes and banter with old boss Jose Mourinho.

The Spaniard, however, sees the Manchester United boss as his rival and is happy that he chose to move to London, not Manchester.

Morata says he joined Chelsea ahead of United because of the presence of Antonio Conte despite receiving offers from the Red Devils.

Having played second fiddle at Real Madrid to Karim Benzema, the striker said:

“I came to Chelsea for Conte. For the first time in my career, I feel like the number one striker in a team. This is what I needed.”

Morata also spoke about Jose Mourinho who was his first coach in professional football. He said:

“It’s wonderful playing with Mourinho and winning with Mourinho now it’s time to try and win with Antonio and it’s a wonderful opportunity.”
