Alli’s Penalty Halts Spurs’ Winless Spell In Stalemate With Burnley

Dele Alli’s second-half penalty staved off defeat for Tottenham Hotspur as they recovered from going a goal down to draw 1-1 with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

A win would have seen 10th place Burnley leapfrog Tottenham into 8th but Jose Mourinho’s side held on to halt a run of three straight losses.

Chris Wood put the Clarets ahead after 13 minutes as Burnley completely dominated the first half.

Spurs were much improved after the break and drew level in the 50th minute after Alli scored from the spot following Ben Mee’s foul on Erik Lamela.

Sean Dyche’s men had several opportunities to claim victory with Matej Vydra forcing a save from Hugo Lloris and a Toby Alderweireld tackle preventing Burnley from bagging the winner as Spurs held on to claim a share of the spoils.
