Ahmad Ahmad, Pinnick And Other Top CAF Officials To Storm Weah’s Inauguration As Liberian President

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad will lead other top officials to the inauguration ceremony of George Weah as Liberian president.

Other CAF executives expected at the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Monrovia on Monday, January 22 include Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president and Executive Committee member Amaju Pinnick; 1st Vice President Kwesi Nyantaki; 2nd Vice President Constant Omari Selemani; 3rd Vice President Faouzi Lekjaa; and General Secretary Amr Fahmy.

George Weah (Coalition for Democratic Change) became Liberian President-elect in December 2017 after he won over 60% of the votes during an election runoff with incumbent Vice President Joseph Boakai (Unity Party).

The 1995 World Player of the Year had earlier won the 1st Presidential election with 38.4% of the votes before the runoff with the aforementioned Boakai.

The inauguration ceremony of the former Chelsea, Monaco and AC Milan striker was postponed from January 15 to January 22 after the incumbent President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf declared January 1 as public holiday.
