African Champions en route China for 4-Nation Tourney, Oshoala Excluded

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are off to China for the 2019 China Invitational Tournament in Meizhou – a city in eastern Guangdong Province, China.

The African champions took off Monday afternoon from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in an Egyptian Airplane with a delegation comprising of 16 players and 9 officials who are expected to land at the eastern Guangdong Province on Tuesday evening.

Former African Women Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala was missing from the official squad list made available by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Media.

The list includes: Goalkeepers – Tochukwu Oluehi, Christy Ohiaeriaku, Chiamaka Nnadozie. In Defense, Glory Ogbonna, Faith Michael, Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, Ugochi Emenayo, Josephine Chukwunonye will all hope to be thrown into the fray.

Forwards: Ini-Abasi Umotong and Chinaza Uchendu, defender Faith Michael and midfielder Rita Chikweluwill join the team directly from Europe.

Midfielders are; Amarachi Okoronkwo; Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene; Rita Chikwelu; Halimat Ayinde while seven forwards:  Anam Imo, Rasheedat Ajibade, Francisca Ordega, Chinaza Uchendu; Chinwendu Ihezuo, Ini-Abasi Umotong, and Alice Ogebe made the cut.

Nigeria will compete alongside hosts China, Romania and Korea Republic and will face the Steel Roses of China in their first game on Thursday.
