Having concluded the National U18 and U20 Trials and began preparations in for the African U18 and U20 Championships slated for Ivory Coast in April, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has signaled the full take-off of the 2019 domestic season with the announcement of the first senior athletics competition of the year.

States, Clubs, and Institutions have been invited to register for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) All-Comers National Athletics Championships scheduled for the Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

According to the Letter of Invitation signed by the AFN Secretary General Elijah Ademu and sent to all relevant parties, the Championships which will hold on Friday, April 5th and Saturday April 6th will serve as open trials for the purpose of selecting athletes for the African Games (formerly All African Games) which will hold in Morocco from 15th to 30th August, 2019.

The programmes of activities indicate that athletes are expected to arrive at the venue of the Championships on the 4th of April and depart on the 7th.
