What is the Afcon

The African Cup of Nations is the main international men’s football tournament held in Africa. It was first established in 1957 and is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This biennial event not only highlights the athletic abilities of African nations but also serves as a celebration of African unity, diversity, and heritage.

The first Afcon tournament took place in 1957 and had only three participating countries Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia. The tournament has since grown significantly, leading to the need for a qualifying tournament. The upcoming Afcon will host 24 teams, reflecting the progress and competitiveness of football across Africa.
