Adeleye Joins Sudanese Giants El Merreikh From Lobi Stars

Lobi Stars defender Aniyikaye Adeleye has joined Sudanese giants El Merreikh on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The deal to bring the centre-back to Merreikh was confirmed by the club via social media on Sunday.

“Transfer Window Update: El Merreikh SC have confirmed the signing of Nigerian Central Defender Aniyikaye Adeleye from @LobiStars FC on a two-year deal.

“Welcome home ADELEYE,” the club wrote on its Twitter handle.

The 25-year-old former FC IfeanyiUbah and Bayelsa United defender is the sixth signing Merreikh, who are bolstering their squad ahead of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, have made in the January transfer window.

The Sudanese outfit booked their place in the lucrative group stage of the CAF Champions League, after eliminating Enyimba 4-2 on aggregate.

Merreikh have been drawn in a difficult Group A of the competition, where they will face defending champions and record-winners Al Ahly of Egypt, DR Congo’s AS Vita and Tanzanian side Simba SC, as the money-spinning round-robin stage gets under on 12 February, 2021.
