AC Milan Signings Not Enough, We “Need Leaders” – Marcel Desailly

AC Milan legend, Marcel Desailly has declared that his former club’s summer signings are not “enough” to return the Rossoneri back to glory days.

Milan have been very active in the transfer market this summer since the Chinese Consortium takeover, signing eight players that include, Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia, and Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

Speaking to reporters, Marcel Desailly warned that: “They’ve been buying quite lot of players, but it will not be enough for the next two seasons,”

“To create a foundation for the club you need leaders…You need a lot of elements to be able to get the Milan – the big Milan – of the 90s.”

However, the Frenchman expressed his pleasure at seeing Milan take decisive steps back to the top of European football, the two time Seria A champion continued: “I’m happy again,”

“You should not be scared about money. We were scared because my former president Berlusconi gave up the club,”

“So we were hoping for the club to be active and now we’ve seen them.”

AC Milan will kick off their 2017/2018 campaign on August 21, with a visit to Crotone in the Seria A, and are also in contention for Europa League football via the playoffs.
