AC Milan Plan Summer Move For Atletico Madrid Star

AC Milan have expressed an interest in signing Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The Uruguay centre-back is out of contract after this season and will be allowed to leave the Wanda Metropolitano on a free transfer.

Manchester United were reported to be in for the 32-year-old last summer when Jose Mourinho was attempting to further bolster his defense.

That deal never came to fruition, however, and, according to Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan are set to pounce next summer.

The Italian outlet claim that Milan’s technical director Leonardo has already touched base with Godin to sound him out over a move to the San Siro.

Another plus point for the Serie A club is that Godin owns a Spanish passport, which will make him easier to register as an EU player

He has been a stalwart of the Atletico defense since moving to the Spanish capital back in 2010 and has won seven trophies during his time there.
