Abu Azeez Leads the Pack with a Century of Goals

The sunny Wednesday afternoon in Sharm El Sheikh could not stop Nigeria’s Beach Soccer superstar Abu Azeez from inspiring the Supersand Eagles to a 7-6 victory over hosts Egypt, scoring four goals to take his tally for Nigeria past a century in the semifinal of the 2018 African Beach Soccer Championship.

In the win against Libya on Sunday, Azeez had scored twice in Nigeria’s group stage, and once against Tanzania on Monday taking his tally to ninety-nine goals, thereby setting them up for a captivating encounter, against the odds, with the hosts.

However, Nigeria’s Sand Eagles shook off their poor pre-tournament issues to beat the Pharaohs and become the first team to book their place in the 2019 Beach Soccer World Cup to be hosted by Paraguay, with Azeez putting four past the Egyptian goalie to round up his tally to 103 international goals.
