Abu Azeez Hits Out At Warri Wolves In Incredible Twitter Rant

Warri Wolves midfielder Abu Azeez has taken a dig at his club in a series of tweets suggesting he is being owed outstanding salary arrears.

The Nigeria Professional Football League has been on break since 18 March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With economic activities severely hit by a nationwide lockdown, several NPFL clubs normally reliant on government subvention have struggled to pay players.

Heartland goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa confirmed recently that players of the club are being owed three months arrears.

A report in the Punch also named Sunshine Stars and FC Ifeanyiubah as clubs yet to pay players for the past three months.

It appears Warri Wolves which is owned by the Delta State government is in a similar situation and Azeez, Nigeria’s record goalscorer in Beach Soccer took to Twitter to air his frustrations.

While the former Enugu Rangers player didn’t explicitly say he was being owed, the wordings of his tweet makes his point and deep frustrations quite clear.

Calls to the player to provide clarification about his tweets were unreturned at the time of this report.

“Dear @Warri_Wolves_FC Abeg na… Abeg, na beg I dey beg,” he posted on Wednesday.

“Dear @Warri_Wolves_FC, how many RT to get a panpan?” the midfielder demanded.

“Panpan” mimics the sound a phone makes when it gets a message alert and is used colloquially in Nigeria to mean a bank alert.

Azeez joined Warri Wolves during the now-suspended season and was instrumental in helping the club navigate away from relegation waters before play was halted.
