Abia Warriors Sacks Cameroonian, Appoint Nigerian as New Coach

Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia have announced the appointment of Adenrele Adewumi Moses to the position of Head Coach.

The appointment is effective immediately.
The former Kano Pillars player was until his appointment, Chief Coach of the club and takes over from Cameroonian, Emmanuel Deutsch, whose contract with the club had expired.

The new Head Coach will be assisted by Adams Jonkay who is now the Chief Coach of the club and former Enyimba star, Chidozie Ukoh as well as Austin Chinwendu who have been designated as Assistant Coach and Coach respectively.

Reacting to his appointment, Aderenle said: “I want to thank the management because I know it’s a tasking position but at the same time I want to assure them I’m going to do my best. I’ll make sure that Abia Warriors go places this season by God’s grace.”

Meanwhile, the club has also announced that striker Ndifreke Effiong’s indefinite suspension has been reduced to one month. The club’s media officer Igwe Onuoha said the club “took the new stand after the player showed some remorse for his actions which led to the suspension”.

The striker had originally been suspended for “gross misconduct, indiscipline, and disrespect to the constituted authority” after he picked up a red card against Kwara United in the group stage of the Aiteo Cup in September.
