Nigeria’s D’Tigers will begin their qualification campaign for the 2021 Afrobasket tournament on 27 November against Algeria according to a schedule released by FIBA.
D’Tigers, runners up at the 2017 tournament will also contend with Mali and Rwanda in group D of the qualifiers.
The 2021 Afrobasket qualifiers will be divided into two windows with the first series of games taking place from 27-29 November in Rwanda which will also host the main tournament.
D’Tigers First Round Fixtures
27 November: Nigeria vs Algeria
28 November: Rwanda vs Nigeria
29 November: Nigeria vs Mali
The second phase of the qualifiers will be played between 19 – 21 February 2021 at a yet to be determined venue.
D’Tigers Second Round Fixtures
19 February: Nigeria vs Rwanda
20 February: Mali vs Nigeria
21 February: Algeria vs Nigeria
The qualifiers will feature a total of twenty teams divided into five groups of four teams.
The top three teams in each group will qualify along for the 30th Afrobasket tournament scheduled to hold in Rwanda from 24 August to 5 September 2021.
Group A: Tunisia, CAR, DR Congo, Madagascar
Group B: Senegal, Angola, Mozambique, Kenya
Group C: Ivory Coast, Cameroon, E/Guinea, Guinea
Group D: Nigeria, Mali, Rwanda, Algeria
