The Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) have filled with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against FIFA’s decision to replay the group D of Africa’s World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal.

Earlier this month, FIFA bureau committee ruled that the tie will be replayed following CAS upholding the lifetime ban of Ghanaian referee Joseph Odartei Lamptey over unlawfully influencing South Africa vs Senegal match results last year November.

“FBF continues to oppose a decision that is tainted by abuse of power and irrelevant to the texts of the international football authority.” an official statement from the Burkina Faso Football Federation explains.

“the federation, which relies on its declaration to appeal to the respect of the virtues of football, invites the Burkinabe sports public to the serenity and the mobilization around the Stallions.”

Senegal will replace Burkina Faso at the top the group if they win the replayed fixture.

Referee Lamptey was found guilty of breaching art. 69 par. 1 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code following South Africa 2-1 victory over Senegal in the World Cup qualifier last year.

The replay is scheduled to take place within the November 2017 international window with the exact date yet to be determined.
