AUDIO: The League Is Still Open – Dogo

Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United Kabiru Dogo is of the opinion that the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season is undecided in spite of Plateau United maintaining a stronghold on the summit.

With 10 Match Days left till the end of the current campaign, Kennedy Boboye’s side sit pretty at the top of the NPFL log with 51 points, 5 clear of second-placed MFM FC. The Jos-based outfit also has a healthy goal-difference of +22, prompting many to tip them as favourites to win their first league title this season.

But Dogo, whose Nasarawa United side lost 2-0 to Abia Warriors in Umuahia on Sunday in a Match Day 27 encounter, believes nothing has been decided as far as the destination of the title is concerned, as well as the battle for relegation.

“As far as the league is concerned, nobody has been given the trophy as a Champion and nobody has been given ticket for relegation,” Dogo stated.

“So the struggle continues. The league can go any other way. Forget about the fact that Plateau (United) are leading; it’s football and anything can change. So you cannot predict anything.

“All of us are fighting and at the end of the day, we’ll see where the fighting will take us to. But I believe that by God’s grace, we (Nasarawa United) are going to finish up in a responsible position,” the former coach of Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC said.

The ‘Solid Miners’ as Nasarawa United are fondly called, are placed 9th on the NPFL standings with 38 points from 28 matches.
