2022 FIFA WCQ: Rohr Happy With “Good” First Training Session (VIDEO)

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has expressed satisfaction with the team’s first training session as they gear up to take on Liberia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Eagles are currently in Tangier, Morocco where the Lone Star play their home games, and held their first training session on Tuesday with 21 players taking part.

Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo and goalkeeper John Noble missed the session as they were yet to report to camp at the time but Rohr was, nevertheless, happy with what he observed and says the players are in good shape to take on Liberia.

“We had 21 players, two goalkeepers,” Rohr stated. “We are still missing three players who will come tomorrow [Wednesday] but it [first training] was a good session,” Rohr told NFF TV following the training session.

“We started in the hotel [Tuesday] morning with a good fitness to recover. This afternoon, we could see how it is here at 5 PM, which is the time of the match [against Liberia on Saturday].”

“We had a good feeling with the players, we have to be careful with the injuries but everything went well. They had a good shape, some good goals also,” he added.

After taking on Liberia on Saturday, the Super Eagles, who lead Group D, return to Lagos for their final group game against second-placed Blue Sharks of Cape Verde at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos next Tuesday.
