2021 Afrobasket Qualifiers: D’Tigers Maul Rwanda To Maintain 100% Record

D’Tigers made it two wins on the bounce at the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket qualifiers, mauling hosts Rwanda with an incredible show of three-point shooting to run out 83-62 winners at the Kigali Arena on Saturday.

Captain Ike Diogu finished with a team high 18points, completing 7 of 9 field goal attempts while sinking 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Point guard Ike Iroegbu was also super effective from the 3-point line as he sank 3 of 4 to end the game with 17 points.

Obi Emegano weighed in with 11 points, while Caleb Aguda who starred in the opening day victory against South Sudan and Michael Gbinije added 8 points each.

Kami Kabange finished with 13 points while Steven Hagumintwari added another 11 points in the losing effort, as Rwanda fell to a second straight defeat having also lost to Mali in their first game.

The win keeps D’Tigers top of Group D, ahead of South Sudan who bagged a surprising 77-64 win over Mali in the group’s other game. Rwanda are bottom.

Nigeria are next up against Mali in their final game on Sunday while Rwanda take on South Sudan.

Twenty teams divided into five groups of four are competing at the Tournament.

The top three teams from each group will automatically qualify to the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 to be held in Rwanda.
