
The Super Eagles face a daunting prospect in the group stage of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations after they were drawn against record nine-time champions Egypt in draws held in Cameroon on Tuesday.
Three-time African champions Nigeria were pitted against the Pharaohs of Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau in Group D of the delayed showpiece.
The tournament which was originally scheduled for this year in Cameroon was moved to 2022 because of Covid-19 but will still be known as the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Hosts Cameroon will play Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Cape Verde in Group A while defending champions Algeria come up against heavyweights Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea in Group E.
