2020 CHAN: CAF Reveals New Date For Postponed Tournament

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) initially scheduled for 4-25 April 2020 will now take place on 16 January to 7 February 2021, the Confederation of Africa Football announced on Thursday.

The new date for the sixth edition of the tournament which is reserved for African footballers playing in their domestic leagues was announced after a virtual meeting of CAF’s Executive Committee.

The competition which will be held in Cameroon was postponed following the outbreak of COVID-19 across the continent.

Nigeria’s home-based Eagles won’t be at the competition after falling to the Hawks of Togo in the qualifiers.

CAF also revealed that 2022 edition of the competition will be shifted by a year to January 2023 with the exact dates to be revealed after consultations with hosts Algeria.
