2019 AFCON: Riyad Mahrez Headlines Algeria’s Squad for Egypt

The Desert Foxes of Algeria have released their final squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with Premier League winner Riyad Mahrez the standout selection in Djamel Belmadi’s 23-man squad.

Mahrez, who won the domestic treble with Manchester City, Galatasaray midfielder Sofiane Feghouli, who also won the league and cup double in Turkey, as well as Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi are in the Algerian squad as they prepare for the continental showpiece.

Algeria were knocked out in the group stage of the 2017 AFCON in Gabon, and will look to secure better results in come June in Egypt.

The 1990 AFCON champions are drawn in Group C alongside Kenya, Senegal and Tanzania and will begin their campaign in the 24-team tournament on June 23.
