Gold medal-winning coach for Team Delta in the Male Handball event at the recently concluded 2018 National Sports Festival (NSF), Henry Obi has indicated that victory at the NSF would be his last outing as a coach.
Obi who has coached for over twenty-five years led Team Delta to victory over Team Niger in the final of the Male Handball event at the 19th NSF and speaking with busybuddiesng.com, the veteran Coach described the victory as “a parting gift God in my career as a Coach”.
“God has given me joy,” said Obi, “it’s a parting gift in my career as a coach, a parting gift God has just given me.
“I didn’t deserve it; I’m not worth being the champion [but] God did it for me I think I’m getting done with the job. I’ve tried.”
Gold in the Male Handball event was one of 163 gold medals that Team Delta won to emerge overall winners of the 2018 National Sports Festival. They also accumulated 88 silver and 101 bronze medals after 10 days of action in Abuja.
