Akwa United have moved into the top three on the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table after they defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 at the Nest of Champions in a Matchday 12 clash played on Monday evening.

Adeshina Gata was the hero for the hosts as he scored the only goal of the game to hand his side the three points at stake amidst the fact that they finished with 10 men after Friday Ubong was sent off in added time.

The win takes Akwa United (19 points) into 3rd spot and four points behind league leaders Lobi Stars having played two games less while their opponents (13 points) stay outside the relegation zone (15th spot) on goal difference.
